Pink 365

October is the month the world becomes “aware” of breast cancer. Some of us are aware 365 days a year. We’ve been affected by the disease directly or indirectly. Life has a way of showing you how it can change colors in an instant. While we are out here thriving and surviving, we remember those who have gained angels with “pink wings”. As a survivor, October is one of my favorite months because I get to see the world physically as I do mentally every day. Pink ribbons everywhere. Apparel displayed showing support for the fight. NYPD with the pink stripe on their car. NFL is top notch with the players having pink helmets and socks and the field sporting the ribbon. I love to see it. It may go away from the mainstream as soon as November 1st hits, but those images become my dreams, my memories, and my goals to make a bigger impact next year, the year after, and the year that. The entire year. January through December need to stay pink because breast cancer doesn’t make an appearance in October. It’s intrusive, invasive, and rude. It comes uninvited to unsuspecting bodies. It doesn’t wait until the screening age of 40. It comes like a thief and steals the joy of college-aged women! We are not waiting until October to fight against what doesn’t wait for us to grow old! Join me in the fight against it! 365 Pink starts today!

How touching! Your words resonate and speak to what I know and believe. Cancer does not discriminate and it certainly does not rest. Thank you for your words.

Awareness brings attention to the challenges faced by those diagnosed with breast cancer. Survivors, patients, and their families receive encouragement, guidance, and emotional support from organizations like this one. This can save lives, improves quality of care, and provides much needed emotional and financial support to individuals and families all year round.
